Max Couper: Born 1957, Lindfield, Sussex.
1966-1975: Educated Croydon & Redhill. School qualifications: 9 O-levels & 3 A-levels in French, Geography and Economics.
1974-1975: Inspired by a local artist, attends evening courses additionally passing Art O and A-levels.
1975-1976: Art Foundation Course, Croydon Art College.
1976-1979: BA (Hons) Fine Art degree, Brighton.
1978: First solo exhibition; The Performing Garage, New York City.
1980: First solo museum exhibition; Kunsthalle Düsseldorf.
1996 & 1997: Solo exhibitions at major art museums in Antwerp, Duisburg & Hannover.
1998: The Couper Art Collection of his work opened to the public in association with The London Borough of Wandsworth.
2000 & 2002: The Couper Collection featured as a Focus Site of the London String of Pearls Millennium and Golden Jubilee Festivals.
2000: Created his Fleeting Opera opera/ballet on the Thames, performed by the London Royal Opera, Royal Ballet and Judi Dench.
1980-2014: Lived Chelsea Reach, London.
2006: Married.
2007: The Coupers' daughter is born.
2022; Currently lives and works in Sussex with his family where his collection of his artwork and studio is located.
